The MMA Forums attended CageWarriors Enter the Rough House 3 on July 21st 2007 at Harvey Hadden Stadium, Nottingham, England and was witness to a great night of killer knock out's and slick submissions.

Dave Bownds vs. Rob Cooper

Bownds and Cooper stare down before the fight is started.

The fight begins with a nice takedown by Cooper who follows up with strikes to the head and then transitions into side control. Bownds manages to reverse into half guard who then also drops down strikes, Cooper moves into Turtle position allowing Bownds to take his back. Cooper manages to escape and Bownds reacts by pulling Cooper down and ends up in Half-Guard. Cooper tries to gain full guard but Bownds avoids and throws shots.

Both manage to get back to there feet and are against the cage, Cooper with his back to the cage gets taken down and results in Bownds inside mount. Cooper then manages to get back to his feet and applies a guillotine choke to Bownds, Cooper appears to be cut, Bownds manages to release his head pushing Cooper against the cage and attempts a high crotch throw, cooper sprawls. Bownds gets a takedown and Cooper throws shots from his guard, Bownds stands up, throws some hail mary punches and cooper shows his back. Bownds quickly takes Coopers back and flattens his opponent out. Throws punches from there forcing cooper covers up.

Referee jumps in to stop the fight.

Winner - Dave Bownds via TKO (Ground and Pound) after 3.48 of Round 1

Lee Livingstone vs Kevin Reed

Round 1 - Both fighters stalk each other, strong leg kick by Livingstone, a second checked by Reed . Ref calls a time-out to tie Livingstone's shorts Restarted they stalk one another. Powerful jab then leg kick by Livingstone. Nice left hook by Reed followed by a good one-two combination by Lee who then dives straight in for a take-down which is successful and he gains side-control.

From side control, moves to '69' position. Reed reverses to the top position, closed guard by Livingstone and then attempts a Triangle choke. Reed stacks but the triangle looks tight but Reed escapes and Livingstone closes his guard.

Round 2 - Both fighters exchange and then clinch against cage, exchange knees and move across the cage to other side. They separate, good punches by Lee knocking his opponents head back, three uppercuts and double knee strikes causes Reed to go down. The Ref jumps in to stop the fight.

Winner - Lee Livingstone via TKO (Repeated standing Knees) after 1.29 of round 2

Aaron Blackwell vs. Ashley Smith

Round 1 - The fighters begin by stalking one another cautiously, exchanging both high and leg kicks. Suddenly Blackwell throws a spinning back kick which lands powerfully into Smith's midsection but Smith takes it well. Both exchange leg kicks at the same time.

Round 2 - Both again begin cautiously and Smith throws another spinning back kick, exchange leg kicks and Blackwell kicks to the midsection which Smith catches and he throws his opponent to the ground and follows him down ending in side-mount position.

Blackwell 'Turtle's' allowing Smith to take his back but Blackwell escapes. Smith goes for a leg lock allowing both to scramble back to their feet looking exhausted. Exchanging leg kicks, Smith looks mad for allowing himself to get caught by them. Both then exchange further leg kicks and strikes, Blackwell tries to follow up with another spinning back kick but Smith now appears wise to the move. Blackwell throws a leg kick which puts Smith down onto his back against the cage but manages to regain a standing position quickly.

Round 3 - Begins with a warning from the ref to pick up the action and they begin by exchanging long range strikes. Smith jumps in with a 'flying punch'. Jumping kick then by Blackwell which Smith catches and Blackwell looks at his foot after the exchange. Both exchange good combinations, Smith dives in and gets a good takedown after which Blackwell immediately pulls closed-guard. Smith drops strikes and Blackwell attempts an armbar which looks to be sunk in deep and gets slammed three times in an attempt to escape. Smith escapes, spins round and falls into Blackwell's guard. Smith falls back for a leg-lock but misses allowing Blackwell to scramble and proceeds to stand above Smith and foot stomps, The ref then stands them up and both look tired.

Winner - Aaron Blackwell via Unanimous Decision after 3 rounds.

Both fighters showed immense respect for one another and delivered some powerful legs kicks throughout their three round battle.

Both begin by stalking with 'Chocolate' being the aggressor, 'Chocolate' goes for a takedown and falls, Austin quickly takes his back and goes for a Rear Naked Choke. 'Chocolate' escapes and gains full-mount. Austin escapes and both make it back to their feet, 'Chocolate' goes for the takedown and gets a nice slam, Austin on his back with a full-guard strikes from the bottom. 'Chocolate' postures up and strikes whilst pushing Austin against the cage, jumps to his feet, passes Austin's guard and drops into side-mount, Austin escapes and 'Chocolate' goes for a Guillotine Choke and forces Austin to tap out.

'Judo' Jim Wallhead vs. Soli Clichko

Takedown straight away by 'Judo' into Clichko's half guard, 'Judo' follows with heavy strikes. 'Judo' attempts a Kimura and gets the full-mount, Clichko escapes and pulls Guard. 'Judo' drops more heavy strikes and then moves to side-control and then jumps across to apply an arm-triangle. Clichko is forced to tap out.

Matt '12 Gauge' Thorpe vs Vasile Doczi

Strikes by Thorpe, Doczi goes into for a takedown, misses and ends up on his back against the cage in an open/half guard, Thorpe stacks and then stands up, and then jumps back into into Doczi's full-guard.

Thorpe stands up, 2 hail-mary's, jumps into half-guard, Thorpe drops around 8 hard shots to Doczi's ribs, Doczi turns to his side in pain and taps out.

'Denzil' and Winner during there three round fight, majority of which was fought from the Clinch. Both landed a wide variety of strikes from this range.

Daniel 'Denzil' Thomas vs. Andre Winner

Round 1 - Both begin by stalking, Winner pushes 'Denzil' back against the cage into the Clinch, Winner gains a Thai Clinch and brings knee strikes, both keep swapping positions, Winner gets double Under hooks, 'Denzil' attempts a trip. Lots of 'dirty boxing' and Clinch work against the cage. They separate and Winner gets a nice leg kick in and again gets the Thai Clinch follows up by knees with this back against the cage. 'Denzil' attempts to drop down for a Take-Down and Winner uses his double under hooks to stifle the takedown. Both go back into clinch/dirty boxing. The Ref separates them, Andre backs 'Denzil' back up against the cage, good exchange by both.

Round 2 - Winner quickly takes the center of the cage, Andre gets the Muay Thai clinch, again pushing 'Denzil' up against the cage followed by two good Hooks and ducks under to take 'Denzil's back and throws him to the ground to gain side control in the middle of the cage, 'Denzil' tries to escape. Winner strikes and then stands up over 'Denzil', throws a hail-mary and drops down into Half-Guard. Throws repeated strikes to the mid section, Winner sits up, strikes and stands up over 'Denzil', hail-marries, grabs 'Denzil's ankles to tries and pass, does so into Side-Control, drops strikes. Winner then again stands up over 'Denzil' and pushes him back against the cage, three up kicks by 'Denzil'. Ref stands them up.Good exchanges as Winner skillfully cuts the ring off.

Round 3 - Exchange strikes and clinch against the cage, 'Denzil' drops down for the take down but Andre sprawls and takes the thai clinch. 'Denzil' attempts to trip and then throws Andre against the cage. Ref separates them. They exchange and clinch in the middle of the cage. 'Denzil' attempts a takedown but grabs the cage getting a warning form the Ref, they clinch and 'Denzil' attempts a high crotch throw but andre stifles against . Ref separates and they clinch again, knee strikes by 'Denzil'. end of fight.

Christian Smith vs. Mark O'Toole

Smith runs to take the center of the cage. O'Toole lands a nice leg kick followed up by a nice jab. They clinch and O'Toole pushes Smith up against the cage followed by Smith switching and pushing O'Toole against the cage. Referee separates them and Smith again quickly takes the center of the cage, the fighters exchange leg licks, Clinch against the cage exchanging shots to the mid section. Ref calls time out - Smith is cut and the Medics check the cut. Good to go.

Fight starts again and both exchange heavy shots, Smith goes down and O'Toole follows his opponent down and follows up with hammer blows, Smith then takes the top position as both still exchange flurries of strikes. O'Toole looses his mouth guard so fight is temporarily stopped. They then continue from same position, O'Toole pushes of cage from his back and and suddenly attempts an arm bar. Smith spins out twice to escape but O'Toole manages to keep it applied forcing Smith to tap out.

Paul Kelly vs. Sami 'The Hun' Berik

Both immediately exchange heavy blows causing Berik to fall to his back, Kelly quickly takes Side Mount. Paul then gets Full Mount and 'The Hun' turns allowing Kelly to take the back. Kelly gets thrown onto his back but manages to maintain his hooks and applies a Rear Naked Choke. He keeps the Choke locked on and eventually 'The Hun' is forced to tap out.

Summary

This was was a fantastic night of entertainment put on by the CageWarriors boys. All of the fights were action packed and extremly well matched. Fight of the Night was Christian Smith vs. Mark O'Toole. Both fighters fought with an intensity rarely seen and all guns were truly blazing. This was closely followed by 'Judo' Jim Wallhead vs. Soli Clichko which saw an impressive display of Ground and Pound and Submission skills.

Everything the fans could of wanted was catered for, from beers and wine being served and excellent quality food through to the security at the event keeping cues to an absolute minimum. The crowd was fantastic and must of achieved record noise levels for the Stadium. The atmosphere was friendly and there were many of the UK's MMA stars walking around happy to talk with and have their photo's took with the fans in attendance.

The next event - Cage Warriors - Enter The Rough House 4, Harvey Hadden Centre, Nottingham is on Sunday 14th October 2007.
